In the Year 2007

As we finished 2006, we celebrated the Incarnation of our Savior, the wonder of God become man in order that we might be reconciled to Him. We delight in the truth of John's words: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, 'This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.') And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known." (John 1:14-18) In the new year, we look forward to the new ways in which Christ will make God known to us as we seek Him!

In the first month of 2006

Ryan turned a quarter-century old.
We celebrated with a Coldstone ice cream cake.

In the second month of 2006

We went cross-country skiing in Seeley Lake, MT, a few times and
Ryan's beard froze.

In the third month of 2006

We celebrated Pi Day with a pudding pie
and worked a lot. It wasn't an incredibly exciting month.

In the fourth month of 2006

Ryan played in the Missoula Ultimate Frisbee Spring League, Rebekah worked on homework and her paper for her Master's, and we had beautiful sunsets.
We went on our traditional Easter picnic despite the snow (it had stopped by the time this picture was taken).

In the fifth month of 2006

After many, many hours (days) of work, Rebekah finished her Master's paper and graduated with an M.A. in Pure Mathematics from the University of Montana. Ryan was in CA for the event. (Okay, Rebekah told him to go because it wasn't a big deal since she's still a student--he'll be there for the next graduation!)
To celebrate her graduation and to surprise Ryan when he got home, Rebekah painted the master bedroom.
We went climbing outdoors for the first time ever (together).

In the sixth month of 2006

Mobius got a steriod shot and started new food in an attempt to gain weight and avert the allergic reactions she seemed to be having. After a few months, she had gained two pounds and grown all her fur back. She's a much healthier kitty now!
We painted our upstairs bathroom.
We added some plants to the front yard.
Mobius took her first trip in the car to somewhere other than the vet. Since it was a new experience, she decided to go big and come with us on our journey to Grass Valley, CA (a 17-hour trip over two days). From there, we went galavanting around the country (well, Rebekah did; Ryan only went to Wheaton and then back to CA), while Mobius hung out with Ryan's parents.

In the seventh month of 2006

While in Wheaton for Sarah Chase and Kyle Herr's wedding, we finally went up the Tower (thanks to the graciousness of Sarah and Kyle who let us ring the bell at the end of their own Up-the-Tower-ing).
Rebekah had the privilege of being a bridesmaid in Sarah and Kyle's wedding and Ryan was happy to be able to be there, too.
After the aforementioned wedding, Rebekah went to visit Rachel, Doug, Daru, and Kina in Charleston for a few days (Ryan went back to CA and went to work). Despite spending a few hours kayaking and seeing many, many dolphins, we are unable to post a picture of dolphins since all Rebekah took was videos of the sky.
Rebekah was thrilled to attend Michael Hanawalt and Mindy Lewis' wedding, but there, too, was unable to take a good picture of the main event, so here's a picture of Rebekah, Rachel, Michael, and Sharon (you may notice that Rebekah is in the picture, indicating that someone else took this one!).
We also enjoyed having Ryan's parents in Missoula to help us celebrate our 2nd anniversary, but pictures of that even are currently unavailable...maybe Ryan has some on his computer.

In the eighth month of 2006

We celebrated Rebekah's two dozenth birthday by camping at Glacier National Park and going on a really long hike the next day.

You may be overwhelmed by pictures of Glacier in this post, but just remember: we have a lot more than we're putting here!

We saw our first pika. It was very cute and very scared of us.

If you come visit us, we'll take you to Glacier and you, too, can take pictures like this.

If you want a picture like this one, be prepared for a long hike.

We got our picture taken by a nice Norwegian (maybe) guy whose bear spray we later found on the trail. Ryan caught up with him before the bears did. That's a glacier in the left part of the picture.

This marmot mommy was not happy that we were so close to her baby, so she tried to lead us away. Too bad it was in the opposite direction of our car!

We followed and finally caught up with three male bighorn sheep on the trail. They were more interested in the grass than they were in us, thankfully.

Right before the semester started, Rebekah was excited to be in Catherine Crocker and Jamie Brown's wedding in Fairfax, VA and glad that Ryan could be there, too.

In the ninth month of 2006

Mobius got worn out watching Rebekah study and Ryan work.

Rebekah flew to Washington, D.C., (her third time in D.C. in three months!) to attend her cousin Ashley's wedding with the rest of her family.

We had more amazing sunsets in Missoula.

In the tenth month of 2006

Ryan went to the Industrial Fabrics Association International trade show in Atlanta where he got to wear these gorgeous shirts.

While he was gone, we had our first snow in Missoula. Yes, Rebekah had an exciting fall semester.

In the eleventh month 2006

We decorated for Christmas with these beautiful wreaths that Mom and Dad Johnson gave Ryan for a really-early birthday present.

In the twelfth month of 2006

Rebekah attended her first-ever Autometrix party! (They always seem to have them when she's not around.)

Ryan, Rebekah, Rachel, Doug, Daru, and Dr. Johnson visited Dr. Johnson's office to admire the beautiful art displays.

We had a rousing game of "Name That Baby" at Rebekah's Aunt Kathy's house over New Year's weekend. Esther, the youngest cousin, won (there were rumors of uncited assistance).

The Johnson family tradition of putting on all the clothes you got for Christmas at once and taking a picture continued, but the boys were the only participants since the girls didn't get any clothes this year!

Since the girls didn't get any fancy clothes, we posed in our Christmas hats. Somehow our mother always avoids being in these pictures....

Ryan and Doug made a lovely cake for Jesus' birthday. Since it was closer to Epiphany when we actually celebrated in PA, they decided to go with a 3 wise men (plus their pet cat) theme.
